Bloody Mary (1/4)

Caffeine!Author here. So I totally wrote this right after I posted that comment, then I crashed, then I forgot about it completely until today. I think my fill's a good idea in theory, but the execution... well I'll leave that up to you to decided readers lol...

Out in the Wastes there were very few people who remembered anything in detail about pre-war culture. Sure there were books and videos about it, but it just wasn't the same. This is why Roxanna counted herself lucky to have someone like Raul around. He was like a fresh spring of water in a dry wasteland deprived of all old world culture... you know except for being “fresh” he was a 234 year old ghoul and instead of flowing over with cool, refreshing liquid he bubbled up lost knowledge.

“Here you go Boss,” the old ghoul said, handing her the newly modded Pip-Boy.

She giddily affixed the gadget to her arm. “Thanks much,” she drawled, admiring the new interface.

"No problem Boss," he laughed as she eagerly twisted the knobs. “Hey, do you know if the date on that thing is right?”

“I dunno,” she shrugged. “I guess? Does it matter? I mean really, any date is as good as the next out here.”

“True. I only ask because if it is right then this weekend is Halloween.”

“'Halloween?' Is that another one of those old world holidays?” she asked, looking up from the blue glowing screen.

Si, it is.” She gave him a look letting him know that she wanted him to elaborate so he did.

A few minutes later Roxanna was bouncing in her seat. “That's such an awesome holiday! Free candy, costumes, tricks, treats! Why am I just now learning about this?”

He shrugged, corner's of his mouth lifting into the beginnings of a grin. “Dunno Boss.”

Roxanna fixed her face was all grim and stone then. “You know we're going to be celebrating hardcore this weekend, right?”

Raul mimicked her posture. “Of course Boss.”

She gave the ghoul a tight nod. “Right. Let's get to work.”
