The silence at the citadel was deafening. They all stood in formation waiting for the signal. Each could only stare at the large obstacles and force fields before them.
Charon felt a small hand slip into his and squeeze. "Stay near me Smoothskin." "I have your back." Janet looked up at him and smiled. The battle only allowed for this one moment. To stare and grip a hand. Then the silence was broken.
BETTER DEAD THAN RED.
The crowd rushed forward with a roar. Janet, Charon and Lyons Pride leading. Cars exploded. Vertibirds fell. Explosions rung out. Charon could hardly hear himself shout as he shoved his boot into a Enclave soldiers neck. Janet had danced her way over a car spinning gracefully as she flung a knife through a helmet. The soldier went to grab her leg but was promptly kicked down by Charon, who unloaded his shotgun into his face. The group raced forward reclaiming the road to the memorial.
Janet was tackled at the memorial. She reached for her knife but the head that lacked the enclave helmet suddenly exploded. She reached for Charon who looked equally as confused. Her eyes followed the bullets trail. Rivet City. A crowd had gathered on the deck. Someone had used a sniper rifle.
Janet grinned and it was noticed through Butch's scope.
The memorial was fairly easy to claim back. The Enclave had positioned themselves in small areas, so all Charon had to do was throw some well aimed grenades. After that Autumn was taken out. Bluntly with Janet's knife.
She threw her arms around Charon when it was all over. "We did it!" "Are you okay ?"" Janet moved her arms and legs only wincing slightly at the left leg. "I'll live" she smiled. "Me too." Charon kissed her passionately and care free. Finally rid of the Enclave burden with Janet still alive. "I love you." Charon froze at the words then smiled widely. "As I love you smoothskin." No sooner had the words left his mouth a klaxon blared.
Both whipped around to see Sarah on top of the steps. "It's been sabotaged !" "What do you mean?" Janet screamed. "It's going to blow unless someone starts it up." "I'll do it." "Whoever goes in there isn't coming back out. There's too much radiation." Sarah's face was filled with horror and Janets joined her. Both froze. "I'll do it." Janet turned to look at Charon. "No. No no no no ! You can't." "You will die." "You will go feral !" Charon frowned "We don't know that for sure. But we know that if you go you will not be surviving. I will."
Janet thought it through. Her mind was screaming in protest but she rarely had time to think wih Madison shouting on the intercom. "If you leave me alone in this fucking wasteland I will kill you." Her face was furious and filled with determination. Charon laughed with logic. "Why would I leave you. I'm pretty sure you owe me something after surving that battle." Janet smirked through her anger. "You still have to tell me your story." "And I will. First I have to do this." Janet nodded, grabbing his face and kissing him furiously. He climbed the stairs with her following and the glass shut between them. "216 !" she screamed through the glass. "Alpha and Omega ?" She nodded with a small smile although tears fell down. "Hurry." He did and then it was over. .
