“Colonel Moore,” he saluted with his free hand, “urgent news, we've captured Courier Six.”
Moore's head pivoted so fast, the Sargent thought he heard a whiplash, “What?” the Colonel said flatly. Courier Six was the bogeyman of the NCR; he had many names, the Messenger of Death, Bringer of Sorrow, Architect of Doom, but most of the troops referred to him as, That Fucker Who Got Shot In The Head. When he first made himself known, tracking Benny Gecko across the entire Mojave and back, and waltzing into the Lucky 38 like he owned the place, the NCR thought they had an ace in the hole. At first he was willing to help out the NCR, even resolving that business with the Kings, even if a few soldiers got, quoth a local, “their asses kicked so hard their extended families inherited the bruises”.
