“I know I said I didn’t want this thing on…” Layla’s voice cut in as the image focused on the far wall of a room, lit by a nearby lantern. “But it kinda feels like someone else is here when it’s going.”
“Veronica’s asleep,” she continued quietly. “That witch won the rock, paper, scissors after having the gall to demand we stay the night.”
The image shifted and moved as the camera was picked up. It panned over the interior of the farmhouse Terry had been in. Veronica lay sleeping on a bed a few feet away.
The image moved again, coming to a halt as the camera was set down on a table. The Courier moved around and sat on a chair further away, still in view.
“Tony always told me to sing a goofy song if I got creeped out,” Layla whispered. “Of course my other brothers would just try to scare me worse.”
The house creaked as the wind blew outside, and the Courier pulled her leg up to her chest.
“What puts the kick in and chicken,” she started singing quietly, “the magic in June?” There was another creak in the building, and her singing got louder. “It’s just Elmer’s Tune…”
She trailed off as the wind continued blowing and the lantern flame flickered. As the light shifted, one large shadow grew on the wall. It wavered for a moment, the moved toward Layla. It passed over her, then disappeared.
