"I know what you're trying to do," Arcade said evenly. "It won't work."

Primrose stretched like a cat in a sunbeam, idly scratching at his naked torso. "Got no idea what you mean, babe," he said breezily. "Did I drop a cap? Oh, bother."

Arcade's eyes flicked over the top edge of his book as Primrose bent over at the waist, in those asshugging jeans he's been wearing since he got back from Zion. He fixed his eyes back on the text before the courier stood back up and looked over his shoulder. He heard the soft snort of disappointment, and said lightly, "If you've found your cap, why don't you obsessively sort your storage lockers again."

"Seriously?" Primrose said. "I swagger in fresh from a shower, say 'I'm bored' and that's what you're givin' me?"

"I believe I was hired on to provide medical services and rakishly witty observations," Arcade said, licking the pad of his index finger and turning a page. "I'm not here for your entertainment."

Primrose settled on the couch next to him, sliding a hand along his thigh. "No, but I'm here for yours," he purred against Arcade's ear, leaning in close.

"Offer declined. I'm busy."

"Come on," Primrose groaned, the hand on Arcade's thigh sliding down, "how often is it that everyone's out, and it's just us? Tell me you haven't thought about bending me over that crazy-long kitchen table. Tell me."

"I have, but in that particular fantasy you were far less annoying."

Primrose was not to be detered, as evidenced by his nose nuzzling against Arcade's ear, hand moving from his thigh to grope at his chest through his shirt. Arcade took in a deep breath at the feeling of lips on his neck, bristly goatee catching against soft skin and teeth nipping at his jaw. "I have been looking for a decent translation of A Rebours for literal decades," he sighed.

"It'll be here when you're done with me," Primrose murmured against his skin, voice lilting with preemptive victory.

"No, no it won't," Arcade said sadly as he let the book be tugged from his fingers, "Veronica's going to steal it, just like she stole my pristine copy of The Bacchae and got motor grease all over it."

"I'm sure you will find the tools to carry on," Primrose said, gingerly setting the book on the coffee table and straddling Arcade's hips.

"I'm not gonna lie, I'm just a little angry at you right now," Arcade said plainly.

"Then take it out on me," the courier said, wrapping his arms around Arcade's neck and kissing him.

Haaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaawt. <3
