"I asked you to go to the Green Day concert".

(Couldn't figure out how to put in lily or Cass. It's F!Courier, Arcade, Boome, Raul, and Veronica)

Bonnie and her companions sat around the fire. The day had come to an end. Miles had been walked, Legion blood spilled. It was the time of day they all sat and talked, and strengthen the bonds between them. Music, as a topic had come up, each sharing their own tastes.

Arcade, who brought up the subject talking about the arts, shared his opinion. "I don't know about you guys", he spoke, popping pinyon nuts into his mouth, "but it's classical, all the way for me. Mozart, Beethoven, Bach. So classic". Boone put down the bowl of squirrel stew he was eating and gave his opinion. "Jazz for me. Got into it in my army days. Nothing like a little Billie Holiday or Louis Armstrong after a day of blowing heads open". He wiped his mouth on his sleeve before continuing. "I used to listen to it with Carla. Good memories". Bonnie whacked him on the back and chirped "I'm with ya Boone. Jazz is great. Big Band, too. I love me some Kay Kiser". "Easy, boss", Raul warned, "you'll break niño's spine". Raul took a sip of Nuka-Cola. "This old man lives for blues. A little mariachi here and there raises spirits, too. Especially around Tabitha". He grimaced. Bonnie turned to Veronica. "What about you?".

Veronica blushed. "You guys promise not to laugh?". After seeing their nods, she sighed. "I like rock. Stuff from after the old days but before the war". Arcade chuckled. "We'd never laugh at you Veronica. To each his own. Play some, for us. I'm sure we'd all like to hear". Veronica made a face before pulling out a small radio. She put in a small holotape. Noise blasted out. Screeching guitars, electronic noises, and a singer shrieking:

"Punch your lights out, hit the pavement.
That's what I call entertainment.
Causing problems makes you famous.
ALL THIS VIOLENCE MAKES A STATEMENT!"

Veronica paused the tape when the song ended. "That band was Mindless Self Indulgence. They had the cutest drummer".  Arcade dug a finger into his ear. "What WAS that? I'm nearly deaf!" Boone mumbled slightly kinder words. "I liked it", he grumbled, "sounds like something to listen to before a fight". Veronica frowned. "Let's just move on". She pressed play and the next song started playing. Guitars wailed and drums banged with a heavy bass. The song was softer, but still had a heavy feeling to it:

"Say it ain't so,
I will not go,
Turn the lights off,
Carry me home.
Keep your head still,
I'll be your thrill,
The night will go on,
My little windmill"

The song faded, then ended. Veronica hit the pause button again. "That was Blink-182. Good band. Mostly dudes, but they were good". Bonnie was looking at Veronica with a confused expression. "What's Blink-182 mean? Is that old world slang? Aren't these grown men? How can someone carry them home?". Veronica sighed. "It's just what they called themselves and it's just a lyric. Let's keep going". The last song was slow, then heavy. The singer must of have a strange sense of romance:

"I asked you to go to the Green Day concert, but you said you never heard of them.
How cool is that? So I went to your room, and read your diary.
Watching Grunge leg-drop New Jack through a press table, and then my heart stopped.
Listening to Cio Cio-San, fall in love all over again".

Arcade piped up while Veronica put the tape and player away. "What's Green Day?".

"Another band".

"Why would a band sing about another band? Was that green day?".

Veronica put fingers to her temples. "No that was Weezer. They're Green Day fans".

Everyone was confused by that. Veronica glanced at their befuddled faces and headed to her tent. "I'm going to bed. Wake me up when September ends" and walked away without explaining that last reference.

And this reminds me that the worst thing in Fallout is the lack of rock. As culture goes stagnant just before rock really develops (i.e. the sixties didn't happen), rock is almost non existent in Fallout. And I'm not saying that to make it seem like I am saying anything bad about this fill; I'm simply bemoaning the lack of rock. Good fill (goes back to cave)

A!A here. Thanks. I tried my best. Honestly I just like imagining Veronica listening to "Lights Out" by MSI (the first song). I agree. There was rock even in the late fifties, and three dog mentions it himself. Bands like the Beatles and Herman's Hermits got their start in the late fifties, not to mention all the Ed Sullivan acts. Maybe the next fallout will be more expansive.

OP here!

Ahhhhhhh A!A I love you! I thought this would never get filled, but you did! Veronica and I are in the exact same boat, and I squee'd so hard when I saw Lights Out there, since it's one of my favorite songs by them! I love MSI! Welp, good to know that my favorite Brotherhood scribe has an excellent taste in music! 1000 thanks to you, A!A, you've just made my 6AM!
