Bitter-Root let the hotel door slam behind him as he stalked down the hall. Three AM, he was trying to sleep, and Betsy had to go and hire the loudest whore in all of Vegas.

It was just like her, too. He knew he was supposed to be reporting this shit to Gorobets, but fuck it. Betsy was a big girl, she didn’t need someone looking over her shoulder and reporting her every movement to the CO. She’d come to Gomorrah to escape his hovering, and Bitter-Root didn’t want to be the guy to get her hauled in for another psych eval.

Post traumatic stress disorder, my ass, he thought darkly, anyone making those kinds of noises is just fine. He felt a little guilty for thinking it. Betsy wasn’t fine, and he knew it. The stupid bitch needed to get over herself and talk to someone. She was fucked up in the head, but Bitter-Root hadn’t decided yet if his determination to mind his own business overrode his concern for her well-being.

And she deserved a little fun after everything that had happened, even if it was fucking her up even more.
