Ch. 1—Mother of Mods
Olivia had always known she was a bit of a daydreamer; spacing off frequently, imagining impossible scenarios, living a different life. That’s what the video games were for, after all. She’d spend hours playing, becoming a new person every time. Until one day she woke up with a killer headache and she knew it wasn’t from a hard night of sitting in front of her computer. She looked around, and she knew where she was. She knew where she was very very well.
She didn’t know how she got there, but she did know one thing—this was gonna be the best game ever.
---
Liv tried her very hardest not to sigh as she gave Doc Mitchell the answers he wanted for the Rorschach test. Finally. That last goddamn picture. “It looks like two bears high-fiving, moving along please?”
“You sure are in a rush little lady…” Doc Mitchell was less than impressed with her gratitude for him patching her up. It didn’t matter. She always took everything in his house anyway, and she never stuck around long enough to do that Goodsprings quest.
But she felt like she was weighed down, which may have been a side effect of being shot in the head, but it didn’t seem to be the problem. As far as she knew, the blurred vision stopped as soon as she got out of the cot. She could hear faint clicking coming from wherever the Doc had stashed his Pip-Boy.
They went over her traits very quickly (yes, the wasteland was a wild place, and, what the hell, she couldn’t lie, she did have a pretty small frame) and he led her to the door. She took the time to root around his home for necessary equipment and listened impatiently as he gave her the Pip-Boy, the vault suit and promptly kicked her ass out into the desert.
Her limbs were moving slower… slower. She felt… over encumbered. But how..? She checked her pip-boy to see how much she was carrying compared to her weight limit. She only got a 3 for strength on the vigor tester but this was bad.
“Holy mother of—327 pounds!?” She flipped the dial from her stats to her inventory to see…
“Oh fuck, I’m modded.”
---
She ignored the stupid robot that was rolling around town. As much as she liked Victor, talking to him would only take more time. She needed to get to Novac without getting her ass killed. While she sat outside trying to fix her encumbrance problem she was keyed in about the fact that Jed Masterdon was looking for a person with a pip-boy, and that the Sierra Madre was excited to have her as a guest in its grand opening. There was also apparently a Midnight Science-Fiction Feature going on at the Mojave Drive-In, and Ulysses was expecting her company in the Divide sometime soon.
She finally understood how getting all of these DLC’s at the same time could make the plotline sort of improper. She sighed and ignored all of these prompts. Sure, she’d love to see herself some Joshua Graham sometime soon, but duty called.
Among the many useful mods she had been presented with was the cheat terminal, her absolute best friend for when she was overburdened by equipment. A few changes here and there (suddenly she felt light as a feather, and she was able to carry 400 pounds with her scrawny self) fixed things right up, as well as got her prepared for the road. Clothed in some gecko-backed leather armor and equipped with a super-heated Saturnite Fist (hey, just because she wasn’t going to go to the Big Empty didn’t mean she couldn’t tote around its totally bitchin’ gear) she set out for Primm, completely ignoring the tutorial with Sunny Smiles, because that shit is for noobs.

We Built This City (2/?)
(Anonymous) 2012-06-13 03:42 pm (UTC)(link)Ch. 2— My Kind of Pain in the Ass
So Beagle was dead and she was very close to just killing the whole town at this point. They were all more annoying in person as opposed to through the screen. She needed a quick way to get out, leave this place to someone qualified and get the hell out of dodge.
Primm Slim would do.
Liv wasn’t the best at science, but on the way she had run into some giant ants and a cazador and managed to climb all the way to level 7 (she really MUST have been in the game, since she could feel herself getting a little wiser each time she did something important.) That cazador in itself was the result of a mod to make the game a bit harder for her, and it was a bitch and a half to kill.
Her tags were speech, guns and survival, ironic how she answered randomly and still got those three things. She was a singer and performer in real life, so speech was definitely her forte, and she loved camping almost as much as she loved target practice with her dad. Sort of weird, she thought, how it would get that right.
Her science skill was just enough to reprogram him. Now, to find that silly little eyebot and tote it along with her to Novac.
Repairing ED-E wasn’t as hard as she expected it to be. She didn’t quite remember what her repair skill was now, but all she really had to do was smack the thing and tell it to wake up before it worked again. “Huh… I guess that’s how it gets done so quickly on screen.” She murmured as Nash said something unimportant to her. “Yep, thanks for the eyebot, smell ya later.” It felt good to know exactly what was around her at all times, so she thanked the eyebot for enhancing her perception in his weird little way.
The next step was getting though all those annoying creepy crawlies scattered in the Mojave. ED-E took care of them for her while she set him to essential on the cheat terminal. Unfortunately she was forced into playing Hardcore mode, so keeping her companions alive was a priority. There was one particular prize she was waiting for, but she’d get her hands on it sometime after she got back from the fort, she assumed.
---
That silly bitch who won the Nipton lottery was raving like a lunatic, so she tossed a frag she had raided at him and watched him die. She didn’t particularly care about her karmic value at the moment, so she walked on in, right past where Boxcars was holed up, and straight to the town hall to greet that weirdo son-of-a-bitch Vulpes Inculta.
She never knew what to make of the man, so she just decided to assume that she liked him. Actually seeing him as flesh and not pixels made her decide that yes, he was attractive, and yes, she wanted that motherfucking hat to stick on her wall as a trophy.
She couldn’t take it just yet, so she patiently spoke to him, not betraying any ill intent or dislike of the Legion. Despite all canon descriptions of women being thought of as inferior to the Legion, she thought they were all rather civil to her for a group of raiding brainwashed tribals. Inculta himself had been polite, but that probably came with the job of being a spy. Or maybe it was because her charisma was so high.
As she left the decimated town she felt a little bad for thinking that some of the burning flesh smelled a lot like dinner. She sighed and decided that for now, a box of sugar bombs would be enough to ease the hunger ‘til she got to Novac.

We Built This City (2b/?)
(Anonymous) 2012-06-13 03:44 pm (UTC)(link)After the world’s most incredible sugar rush and the murder of several Viper gangers while still on said sugar rush, Liv had reached Novac. There was still a little bit of time to pop into Manny’s room and get that game-progressing information on Boulder City from his terminal (because Vargas could go die in a fire if he even thought she would get anywhere close to the REPCONN building. She would rather eat her own foot; at least it would take less time.) She could have used the cheat terminal to give herself the confirmed bachelor perk, but she was worried it would make her look like a man or something just to ask Manny a stupid question.
She went to knock on what she knew to be Boone’s door, deciding that nothing could go too wrong if she sped things up a bit. He answered. “Who are you?”
She smiled up at him. He had always been one of favorite characters, and a member of her VSP (Very Sexy Piece-of-ass) list. He looked a lot better in the flesh too. Much less like a chubby serial killer, a lot more like a soldier now. “I’m a psychic. I uh… see into the future,” Here she remembered that his intelligence level was relatively low, and that hers was quite high. She tried to tone down the potential use of larger words. No offence, just trying to make his life easier. “I know that tonight I was going to startle you in Dinky the Dinosaur, and you, realizing that I had no previous connection to this town, were going to request that I find the person who sold your dead wife. I will lead them to the bottom of Dinky so that you can shoot them dead.”
He looked more confused than angry, which boggled her mind, since she though he was the ‘get angry’ type. But instead he seemed to think for a moment, and then he took his beret and slapped it into her chest. “Don’t keep me waiting.” He slammed the door in her face.
Hours later, when Jeannie May Crawford lay dead at the foot of the dinosaur and the bill of sale had been shown to Boone, Liv messed with her cheat terminal, searching for just the right gun… “So, yeah, now that this party is all over and good, come with me. Snipers work in pairs, we’ll kill more legionaries with the two of us, now let’s get the hell out of here.”
He seemed consider this before he put on his trademark scowl. “Fine. Let’s get out of here.” She nodded. She knew her inventory now held the perfect weapon for her sexy piece of murder machine.
“Here, present, welcome to the club of Courier Six. Stick around and you might see better.” The Gobi Campaign scout rifle was an excellent weapon for a sniper and his level 8 courier. He almost thanked her with words, but he quickly grunted instead, nodding his head at her.
And away they went.
