Thank you! It's like an RPG party of villain companions. When I write frumentarii masquerading as normal people, I leaf through my memory for inspiration from movies, shows, and books that portray vampires blending in, actually. Just a pinch of inspiration but it goes a long way.

Haha I failed to express myself just then. I think I was trying to tell you thank you for seeing my attempt to humanize them and give them their own motivations and backstories, but at the same time, I try to give them just a pinch of creepy otherness to set them apart.. they've each lost their soul or sold their soul. Different reasons, different stories.

Interesting way to look at it. I've often wondered about the dual nature of their jobs, and if it's made them question before. After all, they can't go undercover and see that the other side is crappy and disgusting all the time.

I think you may find it interesting if you try to figure out why each of the "away team" frumentarii does not defect. What keeps Picus from telling Hsu? What keeps Fox from running away into the desert? Why is this female frumentaria helping them??? etc..

Thanks for reading!!
