The One You Left Behind: Joshua Graham / female slave
Date: 2011-12-09 05:46 pm (UTC)Anyways how about a story about the one who was left behind? Was she killed shortly after Graham was pitched into the Grand Canyon? Was she sold off to someone else? Does she do common labor now and misses him? Is she trying to find him again? Does he miss her? did she have his kid?
Lets answer some or all of these questions in a kink meme prompt. I don't care about smut, but it works well. I don't care if they are reunited in this world or the next, I just want a good story! Fill as you feel Anon's.
No Church in the Wild (1/1)
Date: 2012-01-23 03:38 am (UTC)Warnings/Kinks: Kind of on the angst-y side.
Summary: Joshua Graham's wife pays for being unwaveringly loyal.
It takes everything within her not to cry out as they make an example out of him. The sheer strength it's taking to keep the tears at bay and remain as an unaffected bystander is surely going to take it's toll on her once she's alone. All the while he says nothing. Never spares her a glance. Almost as if he's trying to lessen the blow. But all it does is cement the situation. Making just that much harder to come to terms with the fact that the man who once held the power to send friends and foes alike to cower in fear would be gone in a matter of minutes.
The very same man who she'd spent a good portion of her life sharing a bed with.
The one who had raised the two strong, healthy sons and sole daughter she had given birth to.
The man who, despite being viewed as an unforgiving and unpredictable being, had never once beaten her within an inch of her life like rumors said.
She silently morns in the sea of red. Her hands begin to shake at the sight of his body being coated in pitch, but still she keeps herself from drawing unwanted attention. Tearing her eyes away, she's suddenly thankful that their children do not have to witness their father's execution. He had sent them all away weeks before, but hadn't given her much details. Merely stated that they were serving Lord Caesar and proving their self worth at a safe distance. And so, she stands alone within a crowd, watching as he's set aflame.
There are quiet gasps around her, but they're overshadowed by the screams of pain. The scent of something burning wafts through the air. Her eyes water and without her consent they begin to trail down her cheeks. The collar around her neck twists, bringing her down to her knees by her temporary master, at the same time as he's all but pushed over the cliff. Her hands hit the Mojave dirt in time to keep herself from falling face first and she hands her head.
She knows what's coming. Viewed as a slave too faithful to a man who practically disgraced the Legion meant she'd be done away with as well. There isn't a need to look away from the ground when footsteps come towards her. The men speak, but she hears nothing. Only concentrating on the rare moments of brief peace throughout her life, even if those moments would seem anything but peaceful.
Her eyes close at the sound of a knife being pulled out.
As the cold steel effortlessly slide across her neck, the sight of the former Legate – of Joshua Graham holding an infant in his arms with a look of utter pride is the last thing she sees behind closed eyes.
